Multiple users have reported that the new iOS update wipes all the data stored in the Health app.

Apple rolled out the iOS 10.1 software update for users of eligible iPhone and iPad devices a few days back. Among other features, the new update adds a 'Portrait' mode in the camera app on the iPhone 7 Plus. But it seems that all is not good with the iOS 10.1 update.

Apple's support communities already has numerous threads filed by iOS users affected by the issue. Once the Health data is deleted, even a factory reset or restoring the device to an earlier version is unable to restore it.

Ever since Apple introduced the Health app, a large number of iOS users have been using it on a regular basis. If iOS 10.1 indeed has this bug, it means that the health tracking data of a large number of iOS users is at risk of getting deleted.

To confirm the issue, Gadgets Now tried contacting Apple Support. And as per our conversation with an executive, it seems that Apple hasn't yet acknowledged the existence of the bug. The executive further said that users should back up Health data regularly to avoid data loss.

As per a report on The Hacker News website, the newest iOS update also has a security flaw. This loophole can be exploited by hackers to take control of an iOS device and steal confidential information with the help of a downloadable PDF file or an image. Given how commonly such files are shared online, the chances of data theft are quite high.
